Jeannine Sargent recently received the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the North Carolina chapter of the International Personnel Management Association (NC-IPMA) during the organization’s Annual Conference held in Raleigh. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor given by the organization.

Jeannine has been a member of NC-IPMA for more than 20 years and during this time she has worked diligently to help move the organization forward. She has served as a NC-IPMA Board Member, as the Audit Chair, Treasurer Elect, Treasurer, President Elect, President and also as Past President. She has also assisted with other committee efforts and has worked as a mentor and guide to several of the organization’s members.

In 2011 Jeannine planned the NC-IPMA conference, which was held locally at Great Wolf Lodge. She worked tirelessly to develop dynamic sessions that were both informative and appealing to NC-IPMA members. The conference received rave reviews and her conference format has been utilized at every conference since the 2011 Annual Conference.

Over the past several years Jeannine has encouraged the organization’s leadership to embrace technologyundefinedand has introduced innovative ways to provide members with the tools and information needed to thrive in public sector human resources. She was instrumental in revamping the NC-IPMA website to make it more appealing and a useful resource for members. She also spearheaded the convenient on-line registration option for the NC-IPMA Annual Conferences. In addition, Jeannine instituted the NC-IPMA webinar series, hosting two informative webinars during her tenure as president.

Jeannine initiated the NC-IPMA Public Service Project to offer assistance to those in need. This noble gesture has become an annual project that is conducted annually during the NC-IPMA annual conference. Since 2011, NC-IPMA has helped crisis assistance programs across North Carolina.

In addition, Jeannine also instituted the NC-IPMA Presidents Council. Her goal for NC-IPMA Past Presidents is to set aside time each year to reflect on what has gone well and what the organization can do to continuously improve and keep the NC-IPMA chapter relevant.

Jeannine earned her graduate degree in Business Administration from the McCall School of Business at Queens University in Charlotte. She has been Human Resources Director for the City of Concord for more than nine years and holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (SPHR) and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).  Jeannine is a shining example of a public sector Human Resources professional and has proven to be an asset to North Carolina IPMA.
